Built by Sami Elhamdaoui
Autofiscaliteit started as the practical half of my final-year project on the impact of car costs on disallowed expenses, written during my internship at B-sure. What began as a calculation for the files that crossed my desk there is now online, free, for every company in Belgium.

The story behind it
During my internship at B-sure I worked in the accounting and finance department. That is where a company's numbers show up in their most concrete form: invoices, depreciation, payslips, tax returns. And the same question kept surfacing, usually asked almost in passing: which car should we actually buy or lease?
An answer was rarely at hand. On the table were quotes with a monthly amount, and that monthly amount is precisely the one part of the cost nobody needs to calculate. The rest is scattered: part of it in corporate tax through the deduction limit, part on the director's payslip through the benefit in kind, part at the social security office through the solidarity contribution, and part again in the disallowed expenses that push taxable profit back up. Four places, four formulas, and not one document that brings them together.
The timing sharpens it. A large share of Belgian company fleets comes up for renewal between 2026 and 2028, exactly when the rules change fundamentally. From 2026 the corporate tax deductibility of new combustion cars drops to zero, while electric cars ordered before 2027 keep their full deduction. At the same time the CO₂ solidarity contribution and the minimum director's salary for the reduced SME rate both rise. Deciding by gut feeling easily costs thousands, and you only notice two tax returns later.
For my final-year project I wrote that calculation out in full and then turned it into a tool: the deduction calendar per ordering period, the gram formula for older orders, the benefit in kind with its age correction and legal minimum, the disallowed expenses with and without a fuel or charging card, and the social security contribution with its indexation coefficient. All of it in a single calculation, per year of use, with a reasoned recommendation instead of a hunch.
A final-year project normally disappears into a drawer. This one seemed too useful for that, so it became a public web application: in Dutch, French and English, free, with no limit on the number of vehicles. The calculation core is tested separately against a fully worked reference case, and the tax parameters are reviewed and updated every year after the federal budget agreement.
The monthly amount on a leasing quote is the one part of the cost you never have to work out. That is exactly why it is printed so large.
From internship to public tool
How a question that kept coming back at the office grew into an application anyone can use.
The internship
The question at B-sure
In the accounting and finance department the choice of car kept coming back, with no single document showing the full cost.
Academic year 2025-2026
The final-year project
The legislation, the circulars and the social security instructions picked apart and reassembled into one coherent calculation of the real cost.
After that
From spreadsheet to web application
The calculation rebuilt into an application with a catalogue, your own fleet, comparison and decision history, in three languages and free online.
Today
Maintenance and updates
Parameters are updated every year after the budget agreement, and what users report helps decide what gets built next.
Why it is free
The figures this tool works with are public: they are in the law, in circulars and in the social security instructions. What was missing was not the information, but the patience to put it together correctly.
A small business rarely has an adviser for this, and often ends up paying the most as a result. That is why Autofiscaliteit is free, with no limit on the number of vehicles and no paid tier. If you find it useful, feel free to pass it on.
What it costs to keep the site running, I pay myself. If the tool is useful to you, you can contribute voluntarily. If you do not, you miss nothing: there will be no paid tier, no advertising and no limits.
What the tool does
- Vehicle catalogue: the most common company cars, with an instant tax preview.
- My vehicles: your own fleet and candidates, with the full calculation of deduction, benefit in kind, disallowed expenses and social security.
- Comparison: a scoring matrix with seven weighted criteria and a recommendation per candidate.
- Tax framework: the rules behind the calculation, in plain language.
Ekoon ICT
Ekoon ICT builds web applications and custom software, supports the IT of small and medium businesses, automates repetitive work and guides companies through their digital transition.
Autofiscaliteit is built and maintained by Ekoon ICT, my own IT company. This tool is also the most honest example of what we do: a concrete problem from practice, worked out into an application that users understand on their own, and that actually gets maintained afterwards.
Is something at your company slower or more convoluted than it needs to be? A spreadsheet going around by email, an order retyped by hand every month, a website that can no longer keep up, a report that takes three systems. That is exactly the work. Asking costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
Web apps and custom software
Applications shaped around your process, like this tool: from analysis to delivery and maintenance.
IT support for smaller companies
Management, support and advice around workstations, network, backups and security.
Automation and AI
Automating manual work away, connecting systems to each other and using AI where it genuinely saves time.
Digital transition and advice
Thinking through the digital shift with you: what comes first, what can wait, and what is better left alone.
No strings attached, even if you only have a question about the calculation.
This tool runs on voluntary contributions
Do you enjoy using Autofiscaliteit? A coffee helps pay for the server, the database and the domain name. Entirely voluntary, and nothing disappears behind a paywall.
